Welcome to "The Reason For The Season" Party!

The winner is Mary of Sailing Simply
My sincerest thanks to everyone that participated and left such nice comments:@)

Hi everyone! Thanks so much for stopping by! I wanted to give everyone a chance to share their nativity or Holy Family decorations. All are welcome large or small! If you'd like to re-post or re-link a previous post please do! I'm also joining Marty for Table Top Tuesday and Joni for It's A Wonderful Life!

I'm German and do love things that lean toward that heritage. I found this beautiful wooden spinning nativity and enjoy bringing it out every year! Three tiers, the wise men, the Holy Family, and a Shepard. Love the detail and the heat of the candles makes it turn.
Truthfully I've learned to use tea lights, they are not as messy!
One last pic of the Shepard, love the little sheep!

Many years ago I started making a nativity set for Ma in ceramics. I'd add 3-4 pieces a year, there are 12 pieces total. They have the slightest light blue under color and a beautiful mother of pearl over coat. The last year I made them the light blue had been discontinued and it was quite a scramble to find enough to finish the set!
Ma gifted them to me for my birthday this year, they are very special to me and I love them-thanks Ma!
They stand about 9" tall, I haven't found a manger yet, but I have visions of that and a crystal star!

Ok folks, link up and let's have some fun:@)
Join the party for a chance to win an original piece of stained glass!
It's easy to play along!
1. Everyone that joins will be entered.
3. For a second chance leave a comment letting me know that you follow.
(This is available to ship within the US. I hope my friends outside of the US will understand, and still participate if they'd like to:@)
The winner will be picked on December 15th at 6PM Eastern time.
Merry Christmas Everyone!

  11. Hi Lynn! Happy "Reason for the Season" party!!!
I'm enamored with your beautiful tiered nativity set. I've never seen one actually lit & moving.

I can't remember where I found my stable for my nativity set but check Michaels & Hobby Lobby for one. Mine has a spot for a low watt light bulb instead of a star. :/

  15. I have a little wooden spinner, too, one of my sons gave it to me for Christmas years ago. The spinner broke and we have it "sorta" repaired. Now, we mostly just look at it, mine has reindeer and is very delicately carved. Thanks for hosting this great party.

  19. Yep! I was that crazy lady on the road! LOL I was SO excited when she said that, seriously I thought she was joking at first I didn't believe her! I never even told her that I wanted it so it was so much more of a suprise.
I really want the Creche and the stars to go with it, maybe i will ask the hubby for that since I don't really have anything else to ask for, and then after that its just the animals and the shepherd and his flock so Im just about done, and aside from the creche the biggest most expensive pieces are taken care of so thats even better and I really didn't want to buy it myself, I wanted it to be a gift from someone so that whenever i got it out ever year i could think about them and how I got it instead of thinking about how I got it myself at the mall! LOL

  37. Hello Lynn,
How amazing you are German. And you have one of those typical wooden spinning nativity. So cute. When I was child, I loved to see how the wheel is spinning. Memories! The nativity you made is really artwork. Love that you just choose no color. That gives them a certain glow somehow like a halo. Very pretty figurines. It is so generous that your MOM gave it to you but somehow it is also fair, not to give it some others. And it is true, the love we give, came back thousendfold.
Thank you for hosting this wonderful event. We have in winter many nativity exhibitions, I love to visit them and now I can have a look at nativities around the world. Thank you so much.
    Greetings, Johanna

  40. I love the spinning nativity! I have one handed down to me from my aunt. When my boys were just babies, she would light it and hold them to watch it. As she got older, she felt they should have it. It is very messy and I don't bring it out very often. Now I think I need to do so!

Thanks for hosting this wonderful party. We truly need a reminder as to what CHRISTmas is all about!

And your ceramic set is beautiful! I WISH I could still get together with other girls in a ceramics class that I once was in long ago. Other things in life took me on a detour of sorts... but I really enjoyed it, and miss it! Thanks for hosting this lovely event, and Happy Holidays to you, Lynn! ~tina

  54. Hi Lynn, I too love the wooden German set. I used to have one like that. I gave it to one of my children who loved it too. The white nativity is beautiful. I know your mom treasured it and now it is yours to enjoy. I have been giving things to my children too. There comes a time when we just have too many things. Smile.
